Werewolves in Russia

Monday December 24, 2007 8:29 AM

Werewolf engravingIt seems like a tale straight out of Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould's exceptional treatise on folklore, The Book of Werewolves, but apparently, they've caught a werewolf in Russia.

He doesn't look nearly as frightening as one might suspect. In fact, he closely resembles a somewhat ragged 10-year-old boy. But authorities in Russia claim that he was running wild with a pack of wolves in freezing temperatures (presumably naked). He exhibited no language skills, but instead snarled and growled at his captors. Well-meaning doctors cleaned him up, clipped his nails, and gave him a shower, prior to running more extensive medical tests. The feral child, christened with the charming moniker "Werewolf Boy," did not appear to appreciate the doctor's good intentions. He eluded security and escaped back into the wild scant hours later. Presumably, he's run back into the wilderness to run with his pack. Were they still alive, writers like Jack London and Rudyard Kipling might just be jealous.
