Frank's Box
Friday October 26, 2007 8:30 AM
Imagine being able to pick up a phone — or a device like it — and dial up The Other Side. Answering on the other end is someone who is no longer of this world — they're dead. Sound far-fetched? Not in the eyes of researchers all over the world who are pursuing tech links with other realms for real-time, two communication — including the inventor of a fairly new device: Frank's Box.
Since antiquity, human beings have resisted the idea that the dead are unreachable. Prior to machines, specially trained and gifted people acted as the communication medium, transmitting messages back and forth while entranced.
Ever since the telephone was invented in the 19th century, visionaries have looked for ways to adapt technology to the subtle peculiarities of the invisible realms. Thomas Edison said such a device ought to be made, but if he ever worked on one himself, he left no surviving notes or plans.
In the years since Edison, a host of two-way, real-time devices have been invented. Some seem to produce amazing results — but as yet no scientific, conclusive proof of communication with the dead. One of the newest in the field is Frank's Box, created by Frank Sumption of Colorado.
Frank's Box scans AM/FM and low band frequencies to create a noise matrix from which the dead — as well as other entities — can use to modulate for messages. It's made of computer, radio and electronic components. Like real-time EVP (electronic voice phenomena), Frank's Box produces messages from a word or two to complete sentences in length.
Sumption says he received instructions for building the device from disembodied entities. His first box was built in 2002, and he has made fewer than three dozen. While anyone can build one from his schematics, there seems to be something especially effective about the boxes hand-made by Sumption himself.
As the owner of two Frank's Boxes made by Sumption, I can attest to their operation. The box (shown in photo with digital records and K2 meter) seems to create an entire energy field that attracts spirits. You can ask questions, and get answers — but not consistently. No matter who you ask for on the Other Side, it's often a guess as to who — or what — really answers. Some researchers, like Sumption himself, don't ask questions, but turn on the box and record whatever comes through, much like EVP.
Devices like Frank's Box are useful in research in the field of ITC, or instrumental transcommunication, dedicated to real-time, two-way bridges for voice and image. Dialing up the dead may be a day that's closer than we think. Will calling plans be far behind?

hey, can I get the blueprints for one of those? Sure would be a big help in the field of science to have a bona fide haunted hotline. Heck, it could be a sort of cross-country project to do on Halloween or any other time of year! E-mail me if you feel like giving me the blueprints.

Why cannot we recall that God has, in the Bible, forbidden us to try to contact the dead. If God wants to send the dead to us, He will, just as He has in the past. Otherwise, be aware that messages from the dead we search for are evil spirits trying to imitate your loved ones with their preternatural abilities mainly to deceive us. Satan wants to destroy us and the earth.
Just stop this dangerous activity.

Please, this is NOT a question of religion OR ethics, it is purely a scientific question. And for us to be impartial and factual, focus on the reality of BOTH sides. Another invention called the "Spiricom" was invented in the 50's that allowed 2 way communication. Check IT out and see what you think.

Some of you may be sceptical and some not, but on a daily basis I receive a call from 1234567890 because I have called *69 to find out whom it was and then try calling it back and the number doesn't exist according to the telephone recording. I am curious to find out if anyone could enlighten me to any similar happenings. This call occurs every day around 1:30 pm every day of the week. I usually don't pick up long distance calls cuz their usually telemarketers but it is starting to make me wonder about it. Any thoughts?

Does it have to be the dead? What about an entirely diffrent kind of species or something beyond our understanding? What about something evil, embodied? Creepy from any angle really.

When I saw the episode of the mental facility where the team used "Frank's Box," I was intrigued, to say the least. I am very interested in obtaining one of these boxes in an attempt for my wife to get in touch with her mother. We feel that her mother is our daughter's Guardian Angel, being that our daughter, at a very young age (just learning to speak), was able to recognize a picture of her deceased grandma, and point out that the picture is of "Grandma Nancy." Anywho, I did some research and found the following on paranormalsystems.com:
Rosemary Ellen Guiley also had several sessions with the MiniBox. Here's what she said about it...
I was at The Stanley Hotel in Colorado last weekend, and was excited to get to work with the new Mini-Box built by Ron Ricketts. I was also happy to meet Frank for the first time!
I had several sessions with the Mini-Box with April and Allen Slaughter of the Association for the Study of Unexplained Phenomena, and found it quite impressive. Very compact, long battery life (and rechargeable) and good clarity. "Seven" came through for me in every session. We had a session with Mark Macy, and a short one with Frank -- wish it could have been longer. I'm getting one of the first of these boxes, and it will be a valuable addition to the two Frank's Boxes that I'm working with.
Just wondering if there is any correlation with this and the "7 spirits" at the assylum? Is there some sort of annomaly that these box's routinely pick up 7?

I saw the episode on Paranormal State where Frank's Box was used. Now I have only been doing paranormal investigations for a couple of years but one thing that bothers me about the box is the range of frequencies it can pick up. Especialy AM/FM radio frequencies. The box in the episode sounded more like someone trying to get a station on their radio and not having any luck. My group has had pretty good luck with digital recorders and analog ones as well.

Dear Maryvee and biggerbrain,
Mary, did the bible not contradict itself a million or so times? And did God not forgive Adam and Eve for disobeying him and eating the apples of knowledge in the Garden of Eden?
I apologize, I'am fairly religionless, I know lots about different religions and I don't mean to offend, but MOST religions were created to scare people into believing a set of rules as dictated from some omniscient being. Most (if not all) of those religions have been near completely proved 'incorrect' not FALSE as biggerbrain says, but incorrect.
Some stories from the bible DO pull some reality and some truth into them, but are so full of stretches of the truth that its difficult to tell what parts are true and what parts are false. It was said that they found "Noah's Arc" it was a large ancient ship, but not large enough to put EVERY animal (that supposedly been put on the planet at the same time, with no evolution.. too bad science proved this wrong..). So there is no reason to say that 'god has done this in the past'..
As for biggerbrain, there was NO need for you to be so critical and miserable. sure, I agree that people who can quote life exact to the bible need to get a life, but to go ahead and say that religion should be banned? have you not heard the term "free-country"? have you never defended something you feel is right? (even if its unethical and highly prejudice). I honestly hope that something unpleasant happens to you (e.g. a dog excretes on your shoe, or your cable/satalite gets wrongfully disconnected) and please, Keep your stereo-type red-neck opinions to yourself. Get the facts.
As for the Frank's box *applause* cool device. I wouldn't want it in my house, cause I have seen them enough to be terrified of talking to/hearing them, honestly I've been seeing them since I was little, they are fairly friendly, and keep their distance. I like it that way. I don't wish to attract ANY more attention to my house... or my microwave. has anyone else had spirits congeal around their microwaves, or is it just me?

I realize that many are skeptical about the "Ghost Box" and its value to the research that we as paranormal investigators are undertaking but we need to keep an open mind about everything and not close possible avenues that may or may not expand our knowledge and aid our efforts. It is, in my humble opinion, a positive thing when as many as are able can field test such a device. I only wish that we could have a central clearing house for feedback on such devices so that the paranormal investigation community worldwide could share impressions, comments and data to make more informed decisions as to the validity of this piece or any piece of equipment used in our work. We cannot and should not eliminate anything-devices, thoeries, evidence or other, until we have the information necessary to make a determination on the validity something has to our research. When we begin closing doors and discontinue using things or ideas without a reason, we become no better than those who claim to have open minds and yet only see one side of the conversation.
To those who will say that these voices are the work of demonic beings bent on the destruction of mankind, I can only say the following. One of the greatest and perhaps most enlightening gifts that we were all given by the Creator was the gift of free will. I believe that God allows us to travel whatever path we choose and in the end he hopes that the path we choose leads us back to a reunion with him as we leave the physical behind and take our places as spiritual beings which is our true nature. I see nothing evil or dangerous in studying something and using my intellect, my mind and my free will to discover answers. If God didn't mean for me to do so, he would not have endowed me with these tools and the sense to seek out answers.
The Bible and religion overall are mute on what happens to us as we await the "judgement". Paranormal investigation seeks answers to the continuation of consciousness beyond the physical or the spirit ethereal state. Perhaps we have chosen this path not by chance or by happenstance but by design. Consider all of the facts and whatever you are left with after eliminating all the possibles becomes the probable.

Just got done testing and having a session with the "Franks Box and the new Mini Box". One word says it all "Sham!!!" The thing is a big joke, all it is a radio that scans up and down the AM channels and it raises and lowers the volume, of course you are going to get bits and peices of words, get and old receiver and move the dial up and down quick from one end to the other, then vary the volume up and down, and walla!! yu have a box. Its a big joke and not worth a dollar. In the Am channel you have more talk shows than music, scanning these rapidly produces the sounds you here in the box. Please dont waist your money on this.

Spiricom was proven to be a hoax, just type in Spiricom and hoax on yahoo.
I'm not a Bible thumper, I'm not religious at all. In fact, I'm probably more atheist than anything, but I would agree with what the Bible says about trying to contact the dead. I've never once heard anything benevolent on those recordings or EVP. If anything, the lower forms of intelligence and evil spirits exist on those frequencies.

Linda, on December 12, 2007 10:10 PM, asked "on a daily basis I receive a call from 1234567890 because I have called *69 to find out whom it was and then try calling it back and the number doesn't exist according to the telephone recording. It's a telemarketing company. They're able to "spoof" their display phone number; that is, have the number show up as anything they want, instead of their real number.
I,too, get calls from a telemarketing company using (123) 456-7890, as well as (000) 000-0000.
It's not mystical, it's just annoying. Sorry!

I am a man of the cloth with a special message for those of you posting messages here. You must always remember that the chupacabra is evil. He wants to trick you into listening to Frank's Box and for you to become overwhelmed with fright. When I was a young boy, I visited Juarez, Mexico and saw a chupacabra. You must remember that the chupa wants to eat you and your children too. The Bible says to come out of the ways of evil. I say do not eat chidren, you mighty chupacabra. The Allmighty Chupacabra wants you to be under his power. Oh my god, I am overwhelmed with guilt. Forgive me Allmighty Chupacabra, for I have sinned. Forgive me Allmighty Chupacabra.

I just came across this site while doing some research...
You know, you read everyone's opinion and you notice that no one really knows anything about what is beyond our meaningless little existence.
Really, how can any of us know what happens to us once we cross over (or if we even do in fact cross over) until it happens.
I am not a believer in any form of religion; I take no part of the bible as any kind of fact at any level. I mean how can I... It's stories went by word-of-mouth for many, many years before it was ever written down and then had been translated into many different languages; and you know specific meanings get lost in translations all of the time. Any of you that have ever played the "Telephone Game" in school should know what I mean. Sitting in a circle, then one person whispers a message to the person next to them and then that person whispers it to the following person in the circle and so on. By the time it makes its way back to the original person, the message has completely changed. The same thing has to have happened with bible stories. So I believe that none of it can be trusted as factual in anyway.
Me personally, I have seen many weird and crazy things in my life and that makes me believe we are more than just animal, more than what we appear to be.
Given that... I do believe in spirits, human or other, I don't know what they are exactly, but through my own personal experiences I believe them to be mostly people that have passed on, waiting for the time to start onto their next life on this plane... During this waiting time, they’re possibly guiding us, watching over us, helping us get through our daily tasks… To what purpose..? Again I don't know. But seeing first hand how these devices such as the "Frank's Box" have been evolving, I have no doubt that one day, someone will find away to reliably communicate with those on the other side that can be documented and proven as fact. Then we may know for sure!
Until that day comes, we will not know for sure if all this paranormal stuff is real until it is our time to take the next step and leave these limited vehicles behind and cross over into the next plane of existence.
Peace and grow stronger from all your experiences…
BTW – I am not a naturalist or environmentalist or the like… I am a very scientific mind person that runs a home based business that finds all this stuff very interesting.

As for this box it can be built with some off the shelf stuff you can buy at Fry's electronics. Its just an am radio that has a changed circuit to slow the incoming wave to a Fq. within human range. You can use a clock radio or even a walk men to make one.
All that has to be done is modifying the clock time on the IC that is outputting the AM signal. Placing a larger pot on the am tuner for a widerban and you can talk to the dead.
To make it simpler but not a true change to make a "Franks box" Just change the pot on the am tuner, AKA the TUNER you use to change the channels. Then place a pot on the speaker. Lets say a 1-500 ohm pot to start. Then go up from their in pot size to find something that lets you talk to the dead people you want.
